BAGUIO CITY-Mountain Province State Polytechnic College stood out among the 12 Universities and Colleges when it seized the overall 2ndrunner-up during the 18th Regional Higher Education Press Conference last December 1-2 at the Baguio Benguet Community Credit Cooperative.

Rising up from being the 4th runner-up during the 17th RHEPC, MPSPC bagged the 2nd runner-up in Group and in the Individual category this year.
University of the Cordilleras snatched the Overall Champion after its slumber for two years, followed by Benguet State University as the 1st runner-up, Saint Louis as the 3rd Runner-up and Ifugao State University as the 4th runner-up.

Eight Tala, The Mocking Bird (official student publication of MPSPC) journos are qualified to the Luzon-wide Higher Education Press Conference (LHEPC) on February 22-24, 2017 at A&A Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, after garnering the following awards in individual events: Marcial Pineda III (Editor-in-chief) Champion in Photojournalism and 5th runner-up in Layouting and Page Design; Ryan Luis Lucas (Associate Editor), Champion in Poetry Writing, 4th runner-up in Development Communication and 4th runner-up in Feature Writing ; Henry Coyupan (Associate Editor) 6th runner-up in Column writing and 6th runner-up in Editorial Writing; Chariz Ballada (News Editor), Champion in Editorial Writing , 2nd runner-up in Copyreading and Headlining and 4th runner-up in News Writing; Ivory Jane Pag-ang (News Editor), 1st runner-up in News writing; Digna Soliven (DevComm Editor) Champion in Devcom and 1st runner-up in Copyreading and Headlining; Jonathan Tuala (Chief Cartoonist), Champion in Feature Writing and 2nd runner-up in Comic Strip Drawing; Janice Mayocyoc (Layout Artist), 4th runner-up in Editorial Writing; Melody Bullan (DevComm Editor), 6th runner-up in DevComm; Miral Catubing (Feature Writing), 1st runner-up in Sports Writing and 6th runner-up in Feature; Alex Gorinto (Senior Staff), 6th runner-up in Feature Writing.

In the Group Category the Magazine nipped: Champion in News Page and Literary Page; 2nd runner-up in DevComm Page and Feature Page; 3rd runner-up in Editorial Page; 4th runner-up in layout and Design; and, 5th runner-up in Sports Page.

The Newsletter garnered: 1st runner-up in News, Feature and DevComm Pages; 3rd runner-up in Sports and Editorial Pages; 4th runner-up in Layout and Design; 6th runner-up in Literary Page.

The Literary Folio of Tala, Day-day-eng ya Dad-dad-at (Rhymes and Tales), garnered 2nd runner-up in Literary Content, 3rd runner-up Cover Page and 5th runner-up in Layout and Design.
